Ana Filipa Santos claimed her second Standard distance title in a fast and furious race dominated by the bike at the 2011 Standard Distance Duathlon National Championships held in Torres Vedras.
In the initial run athlete Liliana Alexandre stood out and came in front of the first transition. Behind her, and after some switching, emerged Cristiana Valente, Patricia Serafim and Ana Filipa Santos. However, the differences between the first 4 were so short that all scenarios remained open.
Once on the bike, Santos set a blistering pace shooting more than 6 minutes ahead of second-placed Alexandre. Going into the final run, Santos remained untouchable winning with a lead of three minutes 44 seconds over Alexandre. In third position, and with also a good recovery on the bike finished Ana Sofia Henriques.
